Nothing fancy, and certainly nothing super specialized, but she knows her way around everyday stuff.
</cut> <cut text="40">SigNeu: The clock tower heist (40) Received: 143; Nyssa's Battleship Taken: Day 144, with Puma
Video is here - please note that in one or two places, the translators LITERALLY MAKE UP LINES. Scans are here, but I really don't think you should subject yourself to them. 3:05 – 5:26 : Highschool In which Aoko Has A Lot of Feelings. Kaito should stop reading in class! Kaito should stop doing neat tricks while I'm trying to scold him! Kaitou Kid is a no good jerkass loser who should go away! Kaito should stop liking Kid! Kaito should stop teasing her about her father being a loser! Aoko is super honest and earnest with her feelings the whole time; the only thing he doesn't outright say is that the clock tower has huge personal significance to her. It's a pretty hefty boost to JUSTICE!1 and anti-bully feelings, and to . . . mm, loneliness, in a way. She stands by her convictions, but knowing that she's pretty much the only one who gives a damn makes her sad. 9:49 – 10:20 : Kid, go home! In which there is a rather fearless expression of opinions! Aoko turns up for Kid's heist (along with Keiko) and waves a 'Kid go home!' sign. Keiko turns to her and whispers, "Hey, Aoko! You're the only one rooting against Kid here!" It honestly takes a lot of guts to stand in a crowd of cheering fans like that, but she doesn't care; she wants to support her father however she can. When Aoko wonders where Kaito is (she'd expected -- HOPED -- that he'd been there, because the clock means so much to them both), and Keiko tells her that he'd said something about watching a magic show on TV. She's :( because she thinks that she's the only one who remembers how and why the tower is significant. "I guess I'm the only one who remembers something that happened that long ago." (The line about Kaito liking magic since he was little is true, but also utter bs.) 18:54 – 19:06 : Clocktowerrrrr :( In which Aoko tears up when Kid (apparently) successfully steals the clock tower's hands! S-SHE JUST . . . quietly tears up while everyone else is shrieking gleefully. The clock tower means so damn much to her, and Kid is an idiot thief and and her feeliiiiingssssss. Rather than yelling more . . . Aoko withdraws! She's usually very expressive with her anger, but the best indication that something has really gotten to her is that she goes quiet. There's an associated loneliness ping here, too, and one that she can kind of understand—it isn't just that Kid's a thief, it's that Kid is making a mark on everything that's ever been important to her. It's Kid's fault she's lonely! B-But rather than giving in, she holds on tightly to her convictions. Because she's Nakamori Aoko, and she's cool like that. 24:28 – 25:02: oh no Kaitodere In which there is a flashback, and also Kaitodere. B-BASICALLY the reason why the clock tower is so important to her is because it's where she met Kaito! Tiny!Aoko was quietly waiting for her father, who was too busy with work (i.e. KAITOU KID) to come get her, when Kaito popped up and magicked a red rose out of thin air for her. Out of all the magic he's ever shown her, she secretly loves this trick the most; it means the world to her. AND SO DOES KAITO. He can be a huge jerk sometimes, but he finds a way to be there when she needs her—and even though he's a fan of the stupid thief who takes her father away from her, he brightens up her life and lets her escape the loneliness. She remembers the flashback AS A FLASHBACK, not a memory in and of itself.
</cut> <cut text="41">TrivPos: Punching Kaito in the face (41) Received: Day 145; adventures in capitalism Taken: Yes
Video is here! ✵ Aoko is practising contracting her stomach muscles as part of a diet. ✵ KAITO TELLS HER THAT THE MEAT SHOULD HAVE GONE TO HER CHEST INSTEAD OF HER STOMACH, RUDE ✵ So Aoko, being herself, casually punches him in the face! She's startled when it actually connects, having expected him to dodge.
</cut> <cut text="42">SigNeu: Capture the flag (42) Received: 146; Rotten's Shippy OCs Taken: Yes
✵This memory is set in the Jungle! It's. It's an amnesia murderjungle. She is Soleil of team Clover, and she and her teammates all have the same scarf in a soft shade of green (it's the same one that Aoko always wears in Kyriakos). Everybody wears a simple brass bracer around their wrist; this has a team-colored gem embedded into it. ✵ The memory starts in the Arena (an ancient-looking soccer stadium that is halfway reclaimed by the jungle), in your typical pre-game mingle. IT'S … PRETTY TENSE … "games" may only happen once every couple of weeks, but they're often brutal. Sol checks in with friends, like Lucky and Trick of Elaeis (Lucky is Kaito), and a certain somebody with a sharkfin hairdo (called Punch!) on Aconite, Dione of Hydrangea, amongst others. ✵ Somebody on Nightshade cracks a "so how long until Clover dies this time" joke :|; RUDE, MUCH. The Clovers in question just turn their noses up. ✵ They step through their team doors, and find themselves … in … a base? A BASE WITH A TEAM-COLORED FLAG IN IT, a supply of snacks, and a bunch of paint weapons (various styles of gun, 'grenades', and things that look like lightsabers that leave paintspatters when they make contact)?? A poster on the wall explains the rules: they're playing CAPTURE THE FLAG. Points are awarded for capturing enemy flags and K.Os. Paintball shots dead-center to the heart or between the eyes will knock out the target; anywhere else causes a numbing effect that lasts for up to five minutes. The game is to last three days. Falling to the bottom of the rankings will result in a loss of resources and other penalties, and staying in last place for long enough means risking your team being wiped. There's a giant floating leaderboard in the sky for everyone to keep track of. ✵ The game is set in a 3-mile mini-realm with a mixture of different terrains. ✵ Clover is basically a pile of squishy, cute people who, 1) are care-taker types who don't wanna hurt anybody, and 2) try REALLY GD HARD. In a quick team meeting in their base, they decide to play in their usual style: very moderately, without kicking anybody while they're down. LET'S TRY TO STEAL FLAGS WITHOUT THROWING ANYBODY UNDER ANY METAPHORICAL BUSSES OR KNOCKING PEOPLE OUT, OK. (The Jungle is unfortunately not the place where refusing to play will fly, and besides, this game is comparatively light-hearted...) ✵ THINGS GET IMMEDIATELY VERY COMPETITIVE. Elaeis shoots up to the top, occasionally switching with Dahlia. Clover stays around the bottom three (out of twelve). Soleil's a mediocre shot but good at manoeuvring and making the most out of her terrain, and as far as novices with no combat experience go, she's PRETTY DAMN GOOD with the paintsaber. She does tend to be kinda clumsy and easily startled tho, unless she's focused on protecting friends. Then she suddenly takes a level in badass. While she hates bullying and is entirely too kind, she also has a very direct, kind of aggressive style when she gets into the swing of things. ✵ At one point, team Wintercress ambushes her while she's scouting :') Wintercress :') the ones who chose and ate her in Dangerbear :') :') :') SHE PROMPTLY PANICS and tries to run, gets shot in the legs and back a couple of time, and they're about to finish her off when suddenly ... ... THEY'RE SNIPED? Somebody very, very fast, with very, very good aim knocks them all out one after the other, one neat, precise shot per person. Holy shit. Nobody on Clover could pull that off, so ... who ...? ... oh, it's Lucky. Of course it's Lucky; he is some kind of thiefspysecretagent thing. Soleil gawks, Lucky makes an ARROGANT COMMENT, she lobs her paintpistol at his head. He piggybacks her back to Clover base and they banter the whole way '^' ✵ She later returns the favor, diving into a battle that is way above her skill level to help him out. This scene includes a cute moment where she throws him her paintball gun because he's almost out of ammo, narrowly dodges a few shots, and immediately starts retaliating with her PAINTSABER. Notably! During action scenes, Lucky does not move like a regular ol' dumb teenager -- think DCMK movie action scenes, where it's like ARE THEY EVEN HUMAN HOLY SHIT. As soon as the job's done he switches right back like it ain't no thing ✵ The next time Clover is in danger of being wiped out of the competition, Soleil sets a trap around their base to keep anybody from swiping their flag. ( '-') Nightshade trips it ( '-') NIGHTSHADE ENDS UP IN A PIT WITH PAINTBOMBS RAINING DOWN ON THEM. ( '-') It knocks Nightshade down from 4th on the leaderboard to 7th, and raises Clover from 12th to 9th. Soleil feels kinda badly for it, but it was technically a self-defense strategy ... ✵ 9th place is where Clover ends the game. Elaeis finishes 1st. ✵ Very notably, Lucky and Soleil do not actually remember each other! They have nevertheless built up a strong mutual rapport in the Jungle based on who they are in the now. Soleil thinks he is SUPER DUPER COOL AND AMAZING, but she also: 1) worries about him a shitton, because Elaeis is an un...popular team... and she knows he's trying to keep a lot of pain under wraps, 2) likes to bully him a lot because somebody needs to keep his arrogance in check.
</cut> <cut text="43">Skill: Piano (43) Received: Day 150; paintball mini-game Taken: Yes
✵ Exactly as it says on the tin! For … a certain definition of chilling … ✵ Because instead of just loafing around or whatever, they're writing out reams upon reams upon reams of complex mathematical equations on the whiteboard, trying to solve some huge problem that caught their interest while they'd been browsing the web on Aoko's phone earlier that lunch time. It's supposed to be nigh unsolvable, but, hey, they're both very intelligent and sharp-minded, and math is one of their shared strong suits (they're practically geniuses tbqh). After all, they're both more than capable of solving complex problems during class easily, while so distracted they barely even glance at the whiteboard. ✵ Being themselves, they bicker the whole time! They toss out ideas, debate, insult each other, steal each other's snacks, occasionally hi5 over this awesome breakthrough or that awesome breakthrough. He pretends to go to flip her skirt once, almost gets brained by a chair, and two seconds later they're back to debating numbers. ✵ They only give it up for the evening when Aoko's phone alarm beeps, reminding her that she needs to get home to cook dinner before her father gets home from work. They take a few photographs to save their work, then head off together -- Kaito's eating with the Nakamori family that night. ✵ Basically: THEY ARE DORKS.
</cut> <cut text="56">NeuNeg: Kid ain't kidding around in New York (56) Received: 179; Robot Unicorn Attack minigame Taken: MOSTLY HEADCANON, but see 9:05 to 11:40 for Kid being an asshole. Thanks to a mixture of news crew cameras, camera phone footage, and cctv, Aoko gets to see the whole thing. Because I say so.
✵ it's summer vacation. She and Kaito had been planning to do some homework together, but he'd called earlier to say that he wouldn't be able to make it—he had some errands to run. Her dad is at work. And so! Aoko, alone at home, is watching a live television broadcast of an auction. An extremely rare painting (one of the Sunflowers collection by Vincent Van Gogh, which was rumoured to have been destroyed decades ago) has been found; bidding starts at $10 million, and it soon heats up. $20 million, $25 million … $100 million … ✵And then old man Suzuki Jirokichi (Aoko feels a weird kind of exasperation-admiration-UNSURE towards this billionaire), owner of the Suzuki Corporation … slams down a bid of $300 million, which brings an immediate end to the proceedings. Nobody else could ever hope to match that. Aoko damn near drops a spoonful of ice cream down her tank-top. ✵ There's a studio-segment talking about the painting! How did such a famous painting take so long to come to light? Aoko, who has been cross-checking info on her cellphone, barely pays attention—everybody thought the painting had been burned in WW2, but thorough scientific testing had determined that this painting, found in Arles, France the year before, was the real deal. ✵ "The interview is about to start! We move to our reporters in New York." Suzuki and his neice Sonoko are talking about how he's glad he was able to buy the piece with the highest price on record (HE IS INSANE), because he plans to use it for an exposition: "The Sunflowers Adored by Japan" … holy shit, he plans to gather ALL of the Sunflower paintings?! Even the ones held by private collectors??? Suzuki has hired "seven experts", which he calls his seven samurai, to ensure the safety and security of the paintings. THIS IS SO EXCITING … though Aoko is kind of puzzled when he names Mouri Kogoro as one of the seven. He's an extremely famous detective, sure … but doesn't he usually deal with murders? ✵ BUT SUDDENLY!! Suzuki's smug laughter is cut off by a playing card flying in out of nowhere. A "Kid card!" OH NO. Aoko's shocked again—and angry. Shenanigans ensue, but it's hard to see what's going on; Kid moves so damn fast, and there are cries that he has a gun? (WHICH ALARMS AOKO because while Kid is far from pacifistic, he does not usually use guns, what??) Everything is chaos and confusion on the television. People are being evacuated, security forces are pouring in … ✵ Aoko is multitasking. Hits record on the television; drags her laptop over, starts searching; shoots off texts (to her father and Keiko and Kaito, asking if they've seen the news) and then starts searching on her phone, too. Everybody is talking about how aggressive Kid was. The thief escaped after being cornered; multiple live rounds were fired at him (wow, Dad's not going to be happy about that) … more footage goes up online, on Viewtube and on various news channels and websites. It's all jumbled up, but eventually the pieces are put together, from start to finish. ✵ She sits back, dumbfounded. "Kid … you lousy, rotten thief. What the hell are you doing?" Aoko can't stand the thief, hopes that he gets caught and locked away in jail for a damn long time, but she can tell that something seriously weird is going on. This isn't his usual MO. Hell, paintings aren't his usual targets. ✵ Her phone beeps a cheerful tune -- Daddy's texted her back. "Won't be coming home tonight."
</cut> <cut text="NUM">StrVal: ???
